Two of a Kind...Bullet Boards

One of the sawyers noticed something unusual about a pair of boards that came off his mill this week...

A bullet shot into the trunk of the tree years ago had been perfectly bisected by the saw.
These two boards each possess a perfectly inlaid copper and lead bullet.

Imagine the conversation piece these matching boards could produce...
A coffee table top...or a mounting board for a set of antlers...

These White Pine boards are both 8 foot long.  One is 1"x16" and the other is 1"x 12".

One-of-a-kind White Pine Tree Top

This unique white pine tree top could be the focal point of your new or remodeled home.
Photos don't do it justice.  This tree has intertwined limbs and limbs that have grown into each other.  It is approximately 12 feet long and could be used as a support post, a corner post, a spiral staircase center post, or any other dynamic, creative way you and your builder can imagine.

Log Slices

Here is a photo of a pine log that was sawed into 2".

Hollow Tables

As mentioned in Cedar Comments, many of the hollow logs that come through Wille Logging get salvaged and turned into furniture and/or artwork by talented craftspeople and artists.  Here is an example of such a chunk of wood that made the transformation from "rotten and worthless" to "beautiful and functional."
This piece was designed and commissioned by Don Wille and created with the help of three Minnesota wood artists and Debbie Wille.  The table is made of a hollow white pine log and the carvings were created out of Wille Logging materials.
Table & Carvings not for sale.

Here is the table with its glass top and other household objects on top.
Removing the top glass helps the camera take better photos of the layered scene inside the table, which mimics a lake.  Here a carved duck decoy sits on top of a clear, plexiglass 'water surface.'

Looking down past the duck, a lake bottom scene has been created.
The plexiglass distorts the camera image of the lake bottom.

At the bottom of the table are two beautiful carved fish and two carved lures.
Though difficult to photograph, the table is really quite detailed and interesting to view in person.

30 inch diameter at the base.

18 foot with very little taper.

Small end was just a couple inches shy of the base diameter.

Wille Logging offers specialty sizes of lumber!

The pine, cedar, and white oak wood that comes into our business is sawn into timbers that take advantage of the log's best qualities.

Boston Lake Mill (located at our largest wood yard) has the capability of producing 36 foot long lumber. Wille Logging also contracts with other sawyers to produce 45 foot long lumber.

Boston Lake Mill is able to handle 30 inch diameter logs, which can produce 22" x 22" sqare cut timbers. Natural edge slabs can be made up to 28" wide.
